Introducing ShutterPress – A New Way to Share and Sell Photography

As many of you know, photography has always been my main passion, but over the years I have also spent time building websites and exploring how technology can support creative work. Out of that mix of photography and development, I’ve created a WordPress plugin called ShutterPress.

ShutterPress is designed for photographers who want to share and sell their work directly from their own websites, without relying on third-party platforms. It’s built around WordPress and WooCommerce, so if you already run your own site, it slots in naturally.

Why I Built It

Like many photographers, I wanted a simple way to:

  • Display galleries beautifully
  • Protect images with watermarking and password options
  • Sell both prints and digital downloads without having to upload each photo as its own product

Most gallery plugins either focus on layout without e-commerce, or they try to do everything but end up being complicated. ShutterPress is different, because it’s designed from a photographer’s perspective, keeping things streamlined.

How It Works

Instead of creating individual products for every image, you can assign a set of print or download options to an entire gallery. This means less admin and more time spent shooting or editing. Clients can view, select, and purchase images directly through the gallery in just a few clicks.

Free and Pro Versions

  • ShutterPress Free gives you all the essentials: galleries, lightbox display, password protection, and basic WooCommerce integration.
  • ShutterPress Pro adds advanced tools like bulk gallery management, watermarking, flexible pricing structures, and client proofing features.

Looking Ahead

ShutterPress is already live and being used by photographers around the world, and I’m continuing to add features. Integrated print fulfilment is on the roadmap, which will make it possible to offer print-on-demand products straight from your site.

Why It Matters

Photographers often lose control when selling through third-party services. ShutterPress puts the power back into your hands. You own the website, the client data, and the sales.
